Using a combination of synthetic and analytic arguments, the author proves the following closure theorem: Let \(A_i\) (indices modulo \(5\)) be five points of general position in a Desarguesian plane; put \[ \begin{aligned} R_i:=(A_{i-2}\vee\,A_{i+2})\cap(A_{i-1}\vee\,A_{i+1}),\, \\ B_i:=(A_{i-1}\vee\,A_{i+2})\cap(A_{i+1}\vee\,A_{i-2}),\, \\ Q_i:=(B_{i-2}\vee\,B_{i+2})\cap(B_{i-1}\vee\,B_{i+1}); \end{aligned} \] if the points \(R_{j-1}\), \(R_j\), \(R_{j+1}\) are collinear for a fixed \(j\), then also the points \(Q_{j-1}\), \(Q_j\), \(Q_{j+1}\) are collinear and it holds \(Q_j=R_J\).
