The paper considers the Grothendieck construction \(\int_\mathcal M F\) in the setting of model categories. Two approaches are offered -- the first one assumes that the functor \(F:\mathcal M\to ModCat\) sends weak equivalences in the model category \(\mathcal M\) to Quillen equivalences of model categories. Under one additional assumption, \(\int_\mathcal M F\) can be endowed with a natural model structure which correspond to Lurie's \(\infty\)-categorical Grothendieck construction. The second approach assumes that \(\mathcal M\) is a pre-model category, i.e., a category equipped with three classes of morphisms and yields that the projection \(\int_\mathcal M F\to\mathcal M\) provides a suitable notion of a model fibration. In this way, one gets the model categorical analogue of the classical Grothendieck's correspondence.
