    A homeomorphism \(f: {\mathbb{R}^2} \to {\mathbb{R}^2}\) is called \(L\)-bilipschitz if there exists \(L \geq 1\) such that for all \(x,y \in {\mathbb{R}^2}\) \[ |x-y|/L\leq |f(x)-f(y)|\leq L|x-y|\,. \] It is a well-known basic fact that these maps can transform a segment to a logarithmic spiral. A simple model example is given by \[ f(z) = z |z|^{i \gamma}, \quad z \in {\mathbb{C}}= {\mathbb{R}^2}, \quad \gamma \in {\mathbb{R}} \setminus \{0\} \,. \] On the other hand the constant imposes constraints on the speed of spiralling. In fact, the expression \[ \gamma_f(z) \equiv \lim_{t\to 0} \sup \frac{\arg[f(z+t)-f(z)]}{\log t} \] satisfies \(|\gamma|\leq L- 1/L \,.\) Because bilipschitz maps are differentiable a.e., spiralling can occur only at the points of a set of measure zero. This paper contains many beautiful sharp results. One example is the following statement. Suppose that \(f\) is \(L\)-bilipschitz and \(\gamma \in {\mathbb{R}}\) with \(|\gamma|\leq L- 1/L\). Then \[ H-\dim \{ z \in {\mathbb{R}^2}: \gamma_f(z) = \gamma \}\leq 2- \frac{2 L}{L^2-1} |\gamma| \] is the sharp upper bound for the Hausdorff dimension.
