The authors address the Fermat-Torricelli problem also known as the Steiner problem in the case of gauges in finite dimensions. The standard optimality conditions are written down and a few relevant examples are listed. The Steiner problem and its abstraction to gauges and the like were topical in the late 1960s. See, for instance, \textit{G. Sh. Rubinshteĭn} [Russ. Math. Surv. 25, No. 5, 171--200 (1970; Zbl 0225.90039); translation from Usp. Mat. Nauk 25, No. 5(155), 171--201 (1970)].
