The main result of the paper provides some holomorphic Morse inequalities for compact Hermitian manifolds \((X, \omega )\), where the Hermitian metric satisfies \(\partial\overline{ \partial }\omega =0= \partial\overline{ \partial }\omega ^2 .\) Then for two nef classes \(\{ \alpha \} , \{ \beta \} \) satisfying \[ \{ \alpha \} ^n -4n \{ \alpha \} ^{n-1} \{ \beta \}>0, \] one concludes that \( \{ \alpha - \beta \}\) is a big class (which means that there exists a Kähler current in the class). This improves one of the results from \textit{S. Boucksom} et al. [J. Algebr. Geom. 22, No. 2, 201--248 (2013; Zbl 1267.32017)], where the inequality was a bit stronger and \(X\) was supposed to be projective. The result also holds true for compact complex manifolds in the Fujiki class.
