Let \(G\) be a finite group, and let \(k\) be an algebraically closed field of characteristic \(p>0\). Recall that a \(kG\)-module \(M\) is said to be endotrivial if its \(k\)-linear endomorphism ring \(\mathrm{End}_k(M)\), viewed as a \(kG\)-module, splits into the direct sum of the trivial simple \(kG\)-module \(k\) and a projective \(kG\)-module. Two endotrivial \(kG\)-modules are said to be equivalent if they are isomorphic in the stable category. Define \(T(G)\) to be the abelian group of equivalence classes of endotrivial \(kG\)-modules, where the operation is induced by the tensor product over \(k\). The goal of this paper is to describe \(T(G)\) for all finite groups of Lie type \(A\) in non-defining characteristic, thus completing the work the authors started in [the authors, Math. Z. 278, No. 3--4, 901--925 (2014; Zbl 1318.20008)]. More precisely, let \(q\) be a prime power such that \(p\) does not divide \(q\). Let \(G\) be a finite group of order divisible by \(p\) such that \(\mathrm{SL}(n, q) \subseteq G \subseteq \mathrm{GL}(n, q)\), and let \(Z\) be a central subgroup of \(G\). Then, the authors determine the group \(T(G/Z)\). The results of the present paper, together with the results from their previous papers [loc. cit.; the authors, J. Reine Angew. Math. 595, 93--119 (2006; Zbl 1106.20007)] provide a complete description of the group \(T(G)\) for finite groups \(G\) of (untwisted) Lie type \(A\) over an algebraically closed field \(k\) of arbitrary characteristic.
