Let \(a,b\in\mathbb{C}\). Two meromorphic functions \(f\) and \(g\) share the pair \((a,b)\) if \(f-a\) and \(g-b\) have the same zeros. If \(a=\infty\), then \(f\) and \(g\) share the pair \((\infty,b)\) if \(1/f\) and \(g-b\) have the same zeros, and the pair \((\infty,\infty)\) if \(1/f\) and \(1/g\) have the same zeros. \textit{T. P. Czubiak} and \textit{G. G. Gundersen} [Complex Variables, Theory Appl. 34, No. 1--2, 35--46 (1997; Zbl 0908.30033)] have shown that if two meromorphic functions \(f\) and \(g\) share six pairs of values, then \(f=T(g)\), where \(T\) is a Möbius transformation. Let \[ \hat f (z) = \frac{e^z+1}{(e^z-1)^2} \] and \[ \hat g (z) = \frac{(e^z+1)^2}{8(e^z-1)}. \] In the paper under review, the author shows that if \(f\) and \(g\) share four pairs \((a_1,b_1),\ldots, (a_4,b_4)\), and a fifth pair \((a_5,b_5)\) counting multiplicities and such that \[ m\left(r,\frac{1}{f-a_5}\right) + m\left(r,\frac{1}{g-b_5}\right) = S(r), \] where \(m(r,\cdot\,)\) is the Nevanlinna proximity function and \(S(r)\) is the Nevanlinna error term, then either \(f\) and \(g\) are Möbius transformations of each other, or \(f=T\circ\hat f \circ h\) and \(g=S\circ\hat g \circ h\), where \(S\) and \(T\) are Möbius transformations and \(h\) is a non-constant entire function.
