For a bounded linear operator \(T: E \to F\) between two Banach lattices \(E\) and \(F\), the authors study the relation between the following properties: (i) the operator \(T\) is semi-compact, which means that it maps the unit ball of \(E\) to an almost order bounded subset of \(F\); (ii) the operator \(T\) is a weak Dunford-Pettis operator, which means that \(\langle f_n', Tx_n \rangle \to 0\) whenever \((x_n) \subseteq E\) and \((f_n') \subseteq F'\) are sequences which converge weakly to \(0\). The paper presents various conditions on the spaces \(E\) and \(F\) under which (i) implies (ii) or vice versa.
