The authors unify the theory of critical spaces (which are, in some cases, related to scaling invariance of certain equations) for a class of quasilinear parabolic equations. This theory is based on the concept of maximal \(L^p\)-regularity in suitably time-weighted function spaces. This approach permits the authors to deal with some important issues like reduced initial regularity, instantaneous gain of regularity, and compactness properties of global orbits. Numerous applications are given, e.g., to equations of hydrodynamics (like the Navier-Stokes system, the vorticity equation, the quasi-geostrophic system, the MHD system), convection-diffusion equations (including nonlocal ones like the Keller-Segel and the Nernst-Planck-Poisson systems), and parabolic equations with multilinear nonlinearities.
