The aim of the paper under review is to classify finite abelian subgroups \(G\) of the automorphism group of an Enriques surface \(S\) such that the quotient \(S\slash G\) is isomorphic to \(\mathbb{P}^2\). As well as those of \(K3\) surfaces, the automorphisms of Enriques surfaces, and the relation between them are well-understood. In particular, pairs of a \(K3\) surface \(T\) and an abelian subgroup \(H\) of the automorphism group of \(T\) such that there exists a Galois covering from \(T\) to \(\mathbb{P}^2\) with the Galois group \(H\) are classified by Uludağ. By applying those results, it is concluded that the group in question is semi-symplectic, and is isomorphic to \((\mathbb{Z}\slash 2\mathbb{Z})^l\) with \(l=2,3,\) or \(4\). It is also verified that Enriques surfaces with such groups really exist by presenting an explicit construction for examples.
