\(D\) denotes an integral domain with quotient field \(K\), \(\Gamma\) -- a nonzero torsion-free grading monoid with quotient group \(G\) and \(\Gamma^*=\Gamma\backslash\{0\}\). Acronym APvMD stands for ``almost Prüfer \(v\)-multiplication domain.'' The authors give a number of results on when \(D[\Gamma]\) is an APvMD or an almost Prüfer domain. One such result is as follows: The semigroup ring \(D[\Gamma]\) is an APvMD if and only if \(K[\Gamma]\) and \(D[G]\) are APvMDs. In case \(\Gamma\cap -\Gamma=\{0\}\), the authors also give equivalent conditions for the composite semigroup ring \(D+K[\Gamma^*]\) to be an APvMD or an almost Prüfer domain.
