We recall several definitions. The \(\kappa\)-closure of a set \(A\subseteq X\) is the set \(cl_\kappa(A)=\bigcup_{B\in[A]^{\leq\kappa}}cl(B)\). The Lindelöf degree \(L(X)\) of a space \(X\) is defined as the smallest infinite cardinal \(\kappa\) such that every open cover of \(X\) has a subcover of cardinality \(\leq\kappa\). Recall that \(t(X)\) and \(\psi(X)\) denote the tightness and the pseudocharacter of a space \(X\). In the paper the author defines the weak tightness \(wt(X)\) of a space \(X\) as the least infinite cardinal \(\kappa\) for which there is a cover \(\mathcal C\) of \(X\) such that \(|\mathcal C|\leq2^\kappa\) and for all \(C\in\mathcal C\), \(t(C)\leq\kappa\) and \(X=cl_{2^\kappa}C\). A \(G_\kappa\)-set in \(X\) is an intersection of \(\kappa\) open sets. A set \(G\subseteq X\) is a \(G^c_\kappa\)-set if there is a family \(\mathcal U\) of \(\kappa\) open sets such that \(G=\bigcap_{U\in\mathcal U}U=\bigcap_{U\in\mathcal U}\overline U\). The \(G^c_\kappa\)-modification of a space \(X\) is the space on the set \(X\) with topology generated by the collection of \(G^c_\kappa\)-sets. The main result of the paper is the inequality \(L(X^c_\kappa)\leq2^{L(X)\cdot wt(X)\cdot\kappa}\) for every Hausdorff space \(X\) and infinite cardinal \(\kappa\). This theorem has consequences which improve results of Pytkeev, Arhangel'skiĭ, Šapirovskiĭ, in particular the inequality \(|X|\leq2^{L(X)\cdot t(X)\cdot\psi(X)}\) for Hausdorff spaces, a result of Juhász and van Mill in the power homogeneity setting, and some other results.
