The author studies fixed point theorems of contractive type in spaces with two metrics. A typical result reads like this: Let $X$ be a non-empty set with two metrics $d$ and $\rho$, let $\lambda\in(0,1)$ and $f:X^k\to X$ a mapping which satisfies the following conditions: (1) $\rho(f(x_1,\dotsc,x_k),f(x_2,\dotsc,x_{k+1}))\le\lambda\max\{\rho(x_i,x_{i+1})|\ i\in\{1,\dotsc,k\}\}$ whenever $x_1,\dotsc,x_{k+1}\in X$, (2) $d(x,y)\le\rho(x,y)$ for all $x,y\in X$, (3) $(X,d)$ is a complete metric space, (4) $f:(X^k,d)\to(X,d)$ is continuous, (5) $d(f(x,\dotsc,x),f(y,\dotsc,y))<d(x,y)$. Then there is a unique $x^*\in X$ such that $f(x^*,\dots,x^*)=x^*$ and the sequence defined by $x_{n+k}:=f(x_n,\dotsc,x_{n+k-1})$ converges to $x^*$ in $(X,d)$. We leave it to the reader to decide if this is interesting for her or him.
