In the paper under review, the authors compute covering radii for some Niemeier lattices. Let us recall that there are exactly $24$ unimodular even lattices in dimension $24$ and the $23$ of them of minimum square norm $2$ are named the Niemeier lattices. A point $x$ defines a Delaunay polytope $D(x)$ given by \[ D(x) = \mathrm{conv} \{y \in L: N(x- y) = \min_{z\in L} N(x - z) \}, \] where $N(\cdot)$ denotes the squared Euclidean norm. The covering radius of a lattice $L$ is equal to the maximum radius of circumscribing spheres of the Delaunay polytopes of $L$. The main result of the paper provides the list of covering radii for $16$ of the Niemeier lattices. Moreover, the authors provide lower bounds for the remaining cases and they conjecture that these values are exact.
