\textit{J. Bruinier} and \textit{K. Ono} [Ann. Math. (2) 172, No. 3, 2135--2181 (2010; Zbl 1244.11046)] generalized the results of Borcherds on ``construction of a regularized theta lift'', which maps weakly holomorphic modular forms of weight 1/2 to real analytic modular functions with logarithmic singularities at CM points [\textit{R. E. Borcherds}, Invent. Math. 120, No. 1, 161--213 (1995; Zbl 0932.11028)]. These results were generalized to twisted lifts of harmonic Maass forms which map to cusp forms. The author of the paper under review extends the twisted Borcherds lift to general harmonic Maass forms. He follows the work of [\textit{W. Duke} et al., Ann. Math. (2) 173, No. 2, 947--981 (2011; Zbl 1270.11044)]. Although the author treats modular forms of arbitrary level $\Gamma_0(N)$ by using the language of vector valued modular forms for the Weil representation, for for simplicity he starts his work on modular forms for the full modular group $\Gamma=\mathrm{SL}_2(Z)$. The paper is very technical and is full of excellent techniques. It is a good research source for young mathematicians in the field.
