The paper is focused on the study of the solvability complexity index (SCI) for unbounded selfadjoint operators defined on separable Hilbert spaces. The author proves that, for a selfadjoint operator whose extended essential spectrum is convex, the SCI for computing its spectrum is equal to \(1\). The obtained results are then generalized to relatively compact perturbations of such operators, and they are finally applied to Schrödinger operators with potentials that decay at infinity.
