The paper is concerned with the stabilization of the sampled-data chaotic system. The chaotic system is governed by the expression $dx(t)/dt = f(x(t), u(t))$, $x(t)\in R^n$ and $u(t)\in R^m$ where $f$ is a nonlinear function with $f(0,0)=0$. The Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy rule-based model is used to describe the system and the controller. The objective is to design the controller to make the system asymptotically stable. The sawtooth structure of the sampling model is considered. The design process is presented in detail and it is shown that the obtained results exhibit a lower level of conservatism coming with the larger sampling intervals. Two numerical examples are provided.
