The Laguerre-Pólya class consists of entire functions such that polynomials with only real zeros converge locally uniformly to these and only these functions. The authors show that if the entire function \(f:=\sum _{k=0}^{\infty}a_kx^k\), \(a_k>0\), belongs to this class and the quotients \(q_k:=a_{k-1}^2/a_{k-2}a_k\), \(k\geq 2\), satisfy the condition \(q_2\leq q_3\), then \(f\) has at least one zero in the segment \([-a_1/a_2,0]\). They also give necessary conditions and sufficient conditions for the existence of such a zero in terms of the quotients \(q_k\), for \(k=2\), \(3\), \(4\).
