In the paper under review the authors consider \(N\) identical Stuart-Landau oscillators sitting on a ring. These oscillators are interacting with each other via dissimilar variables i.e. they are conjugate coupled. The equations of motion of the system are given as \begin{align*} \dot{x}_{i} & = (1-x_i^2-y_i^2)x_i-\omega y_i+ \epsilon(y_{i+1}+y_{i-1}-2x_i) \\ \dot{y}_{i} & = (1-x_i^2-y_i^2)y_i-\omega x_i+ \epsilon(x_{i+1}+x_{i-1}-2y_i) \end{align*} where \(i=1,\ldots,N\) and \(\epsilon\) is coupling strength. The goal of the numerical study is to investigate two oscillation quenching mechanisms, amplitude death (AD) and oscillation death (OD). Their analysis of the stability of the AD state is based on the methods in [\textit{J. Yang} et al., ``Chaos synchronization in coupled chaotic oscillators with multiple positive Lyapunov exponents'', Phys. Rev. Lett. 80, No. 3, 496--499 (1998; \url{doi:10.1103/PhysRevLett.80.496}); \textit{G. Hu} et al., ``Instability and controllability of linearly coupled oscillators: eigenvalue analysis'', Phys. Rev. E 58, No. 4, 4440--4453 (1998; \url{doi:10.1103/PhysRevE.58.4440})]. The stability condition for the stable AD state has already been derived in Ref. 13 for \(N=2\). Remarkably, the authors demonstrate that this result is independent of the number of oscillators. Waves and oscillators on networks are also considered. The authors are keenly aware of the potential applications in the study of pattern formation but don't discuss it. The work under review is not related to a recent study of \textit{S. Bilal} and \textit{R. Ramaswamy} [``Synchronization and amplitude death in hypernetworks'', Phys. Rev. E 89, No. 6, Article ID 062923, 6 p. (2014; \url{doi:10.1103/PhysRevE.89.062923})] in which oscillators are coupled through different variables.
