A new approach is proposed to constructing sign-changing solutions to the problem \[ \Delta u+ |u|^{p}u=0, \quad u|_{\Gamma}=0,\quad x\in \Omega. \] Here \(p=(n+2)/(n-2)\) \((n\geq 3)\) and \(\Omega=G\setminus B_{\varepsilon}(0)\), where \(G\) is a smooth bounded domain containing the origin and \(B_{\varepsilon}(0)\) denotes the ball centered at 0 of radius \(\varepsilon\). A sequence of solutions \(u_{m}\) is obtained which possesses the property that their energy \(J(u_{m})=\int_{\Omega}\frac{1}{2}|\nabla u_{m}|^{2}-\frac{1}{p+1}|u_m|^{p+1}\,dx\) tends to infinity as \(m\to \infty\).
