A pair \(T\) of commuting bounded linear operators \(T_1\) and \(T_2\) on a complex Hilbert space \(H\) is said to subnormal if there exists a Hilbert space \(K\) containing \(H\) and a commuting pair of normal operators \(N_1\) and \(N_2\) such that \(T_1 = {N_1}|_H\) and \(T_2 = {N_2}|_H.\) The Lifting Problem for Commuting Subnormals (that is operator with a normal extension) (LPCS) asks for necessary and sufficient conditions for \(T\) to be a subnormal pair. One of the results in this paper shows that if \(T\) is a \(2\)-variable weighted shift having a tensor core or a diagonal core, then \(T\) is subnormal if and only if a power of \(T\) (componentwise power) is subnormal.
