The authors study the spectrum of certain classes of accessible and saddle-conservative linear cocycles from the point of view of genericity. These classes include \(\text{GL}(d,{\mathbb R})\), \(\text{SL}(d,{\mathbb R})\) and \(\text{Sp}(d,{\mathbb R})\). It is proved that, for \(L^p\)-dense cocycles, they have a simple spectrum, and for \(L^p\)-residual accessible cocycles, they have a one-point spectrum. Results are also proved for linear differential systems.
