The authors study the interaction between two parallel, circular cylindrical inclusions in an infinite quasicrystal medium. Such media are known to exhibit transverse isotropy. Considering the piezoelectric effect, closed-form expressions are derived for the electro-elastic field of the composite medium under antiplane shear and inplane electric loading. Perfect bonding is assumed at the interfaces. The resulting boundary value problem for the composite material is solved analytically by the conformal mapping technique and using analytical continuation theory. The stresses and the electric displacements are obtained explicitly in the form of power series both for the matrix and the inclusions. The efficiency of the proposed method is demonstrated via the solution of typical examples for one inclusion, rigid inclusions or cavities, and numerical results are given and analyzed to show the effect of the geometric parameters, material properties, and electro-mechanical loading on the electro-elastic fields in the matrix, inclusions, and interfaces.
