In this paper, the authors study the Hyers-Ulam stability of a class of homogeneous linear differential system with 2 by 2 constant matrix of the form \[ x'(t)=Ax(t),\,t\in\mathbb{R},\tag{\(\ast\)} \] where \(A\) is a 2 by 2 constant matrix. They obtain a set of necessary and sufficient conditions for the linear system \((\ast)\) to be Hyers-Ulam stable. According to the authors, they obtain for the first time the best (minimal) Hyers-Ulam constant for systems \((\ast)\) in some cases. Several examples are provided to illustrate the results obtained. A section of the paper is devoted to explain the significance of the results.
