The paper deals with the study of rank-2 Bäcklund transformations relating a pair of hyperbolic Monge-Ampère systems. The author considers two types of Bäcklund transformations, called Type \(\mathcal{A}\) and Type \(\mathcal{B}\). For Type-\(\mathcal{A}\) Bäcklund transformations, the main result (Theorem 4.7) states that if the relative invariants of the associated \(G\)-structure take value in a certain codimension-4 subspace characterized by the restrictions on relative invariants given by Equation (30) of Proposition 4.7, then the resulting Bäcklund transformations are parametrized by a finite number of constants. For Type-\(\mathcal{B}\) Bäcklund transformations, the author proves a criterion (Proposition 5.2) describing when, up to contact transformations, a Bäcklund transformation relates a pair of PDEs of the form \[ z_{xy}=F\left( x,y,z,z_{x},z_{y}\right) \text{ and }Z_{XY}=G\left(X,Y,Z,Z_{X},Z_{Y}\right) \] so that \(x=X\) and \(y=Y\) on the corresponding solution.
