The authors explore the notion of a \(\kappa\)-splitting diagonal given and studied by \textit{V. V. Tkachuk} [Topology Appl. 251, 10--17 (2019; Zbl 1403.54011)]. In particular, in the first part of the paper they focus on the notions of a \(\kappa\)-splitting diagonal and \(G_\delta\)-diagonal and give a topological space with strong properties (this space is locally countable and locally compact) with an \(\omega_1\)-splitting diagonal but no \(G_\delta\)-diagonal. In the second part of their paper, the authors turn their attention to cardinality bounds. They prove that if we have a DCCC homogeneous space with a regular \(G_\delta\)-diagonal such that \(\pi\chi(X)=\omega\), then its cardinality is at most \(\mathfrak{c}\).
