Let \(\overline{a}_\ell(n)\) denote the number of \(\ell\)-regular cubic partitions of \(n\) where the first occurrence of each distinct odd part may be overlined. Thus the generating function for \(\overline{a}_\ell(n)\) is given by \[ \sum_{n=0}^\infty\overline{a}_\ell(n)q^n=\dfrac{(-q;q^2)_\infty(q^\ell;q^\ell)_\infty(q^{2\ell};q^{2\ell})_\infty} {(q;q)_\infty(q^2;q^2)_\infty(-q^\ell;q^{2\ell})_\infty}, \] where \[ (a;q)_\infty=\prod_{n=0}^\infty(1-aq^n),\qquad|q|<1. \] Utilizing some standard \(q\)-series techniques, the authors establish many infinite families of congruences modulo powers of \(2\) and \(3\) for \(\overline{a}_3(n)\) and modulo powers of \(2\) for \(\overline{a}_5(n)\). For example, they prove that for any \(n\geq0\), \begin{align*} \overline{a}_3{\left(2^{2\alpha+5}\cdot5^{2\beta+2}n+\dfrac{a\times2^{2\alpha+4}\cdot5^{2\beta+1}-1}{3}\right)} &\equiv0\pmod{27},\\ \overline{a}_5{\left(2^3\cdot5^{2\beta+1}n+\dfrac{b\times5^{2\beta}-2}{3}\right)} &\equiv0\pmod{32}, \end{align*} where \(a\in\{11,17,23,29\}\) and \(b\in\{23,47\}\). The main ingredient in proofs are some 2- and 3-dissections identities for certain \(q\)-series.
