This paper is the second one in a series devoted to the geometry of certain structures on \(4n\)-dimensional manifolds. Recall that an almost hypercomplex structure \(H = (J_1,J_2,J_3)\) on \(M^{4n}\) is a \(G\)-structure for \(G = \mathrm{SO}(4n,\mathbb{R})\). Instead of endowing \(H\) with a compatible Hermitian metric (obtaining an \(\mathrm{SO}(2n,\mathbb{C})\)-structure), the authors consider a compatible non-degenerate 2-form \(\omega\) (obtaining a \(\mathrm{SO}(2n)^*\)-structure, for \(\mathrm{SO}(2n)^*\) the quaternionic real form of \(\mathrm{SO}(2n,\mathbb{C})\)) and call \((H,\omega)\) an almost hypercomplex \textit{skew}-Hermitian (hs-H) structure. A similar description is provided for almost quaternionic (skew)-Hermitian (qs-H) structures \((Q,\omega)\), which are \(\mathrm{SO}(2n)^* \mathrm{Sp}(1)\)-structures. In the first two sections, relying on the computations of the intrinsic torsions of these structures (carried out in the first paper of this series [the authors, ``Differential geometry of \(\mathrm{SO}^*(2n)\)-type structures'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:2109.15253}]), the authors determine the integrability conditions for \(H\) (i.e., being hypercomplex), for \(Q\) (i.e., being quaternionic) and for \(\omega\) (i.e., being symplectic), and then reformulate them in terms of distinguished compatible connections. The rest of the paper is devoted to the construction of various classes of examples: \begin{itemize} \item in Section 3 the authors describe some explicit examples of hs-H structures on \(\mathbb{R}^8\) by means of a ``quaternionification'' of the standard almost symplectic structure on \(\mathbb{R}^2\); \item in Section 4 they discuss the existence of almost hs-H and qs-H manifolds on homogeneous spaces; \item in Section 5 they construct new examples of almost qs-H manifolds using two different methods: one involving the machinery of parabolic Cartan geometries and their associated Weyl structures, the other relying on the canonical symplectic structure on the cotangent bundle. \end{itemize}
