This paper studies susceptible-infected epidemics on evolving graphs. The evoSIR model is considered as a modification of the conventional SIR epidemic process on a graph \(G\), where \(S-I\) connections are broken at rate \(\rho\) and the \(S\) connects to a randomly chosen vertex in \(G\). In the analogous delSIR model, the edges are deleted instead of rewired. Let \(\mathbb{CM}(n,D)\) be the configuration model which involves a nonnegative integer \(n\) and a positive integer valued random variable \(D\). Assume \(\mathbb{E}(D^5)<\infty\). It is shown that the critical value of delSI and evoSI over \(\mathbb{CM}(n,D)\) are the same. In the supercritical case, the probability of a large epidemic is the same in the two models, which is equal to the survival probability of the two-stage branching process defined in the paper. For evoSI dynamics over \(\mathbb{CM}(n,D)\), a discontinuous phase transition and a continuous phase transition have been identified.
