For \(0<p<\infty\) and \(\alpha>-1\), \(D_\alpha^d\) denotes the space of all analytic functions \(f\) in the unit disc \(D\) such that \(\int_D(1-|z|)^\alpha|f'(z)|^pdA(z) <\infty\), where \(dA(z)=(1/\pi)dxdy\) denotes the normalized Lebesgue area measure in \(D\). If \(p<\alpha+1\), \(D_\alpha^p=A^p_{\alpha-p}\), the weighted Bergman space. If \(p>1\) and \(\alpha=p-2\), \(D^p_\alpha=B^p\), the Besov space. If \(0<p \leq 2\), then \(D^p_{p-1}\subset H^p\), the Hardy space, and any \(f\) in \(D^p_{p-1}\) has a finite nontangential limit for almost every \(e^{i \theta}\) in \(\partial D\). If \(2<p<\infty\), the authors have shown elsewhere \textit{D. Girela} and \textit{J. A. Peláez} [see J. Aust. Math. Soc. 80, No. 3, 397--418 (2006; Zbl 1102.30022)] that there exists an \(f\) in \(D^p_{p-1}\) which has a nontangential limit almost nowhere in \(\partial D\). In contrast, in the paper under review the authors obtained for functions in certain \(D^p_\alpha\) results concerning the existence of types of tangential limits using sufficient conditions developed for a Blaschke product to be in \(D^p_\alpha\). Further for functions \(f\) in \(D^p_\alpha\), they determine the measure or capacity of \(E(f)=\{e^{i \theta}\in \partial D|V(f,\theta)=\infty\}\) where \(V(f,\theta)\) denotes the radial variation of \(f\) along the radius 0 to \(e^{i\theta}\) in \(D\).
