In this paper the abstract notion of partially additive (i.e., additive on a given family of sets of mutually orthogonal elements) measure on an orthocomplemented poset \(P\) is introduced and studied. This generalizes and gives a common base to various results of \textit{N. Zierler} and \textit{M. Schlessinger} [Duke Math. J. 32, 251-262 (1965; Zbl 0171.254)], \textit{J. Binder} and \textit{P. Pták} [Acta Univ. Carol., Math. Phys. 31, 21-26 (1991)] and the author [Colloq. Math. 62, 7-14 (1991)], which use specific families. Using this notion, suitable extensions of measures on Boolean subalgebras of \(P\) and suitable set representations of \(P\) by clopen subsets of a 0- dimensional compact Hausdorff closure space are found. Further, it is shown that the MacNeille completion of \(P\) is the family of regularly open sets in these representations. Finally, the pointwise carrying of homomorphisms in these representations is investigated.
