    The starting point of this paper is the class of ``locally isotropic'' stellar dynamic models given by \textit{J. Ehlers} and \textit{W. Rienstra} [Astrophys. J. 155, 105-116 (1969)]. The distribution function f and the potential U are of the form \[ f(t,x,v)=\phi (w(e^{-tA}x)+| v- Ax|^ 2), \] \[ U(t,x)=w(e^{-tA}x)+| Ax|^ 2,\quad t\in {\mathbb{R}},\quad x,v\in {\mathbb{R}}^ 3, \] where the real antisymmetric \(3\times 3\) matrix A and the function \(\phi: {\mathbb{R}}\to [0,\infty)\) are assumed to be given and the function w: \({\mathbb{R}}^ 3\to {\mathbb{R}}\) is suitably determined. The purpose of this work is to specify conditions on \(\phi\) sufficient to imply the existence of functions w such that f, U are solutions of the Vlasov-Poisson system ((VP) system) \[ (V)\quad \partial_ tf+v\cdot \nabla_ xf-\nabla_ xU(t,x)\nabla_ vf=0, \] \[ (P)\quad \Delta U(t,x)=4\pi \rho (t,x) \] with \(\rho (t,x):=\int f(t,x,v)dv\).
