A collection of subgroups \(G_ 1,G_ 2,...,G_ n\) of a group G constitutes a partition of G if every non-zero element of G is in one and only one of the groups \(G_ 1,G_ 2,...,G_ n\). We shall give conditions on the existence of partitions that consist of \(n_ i\) groups of order \(q_ i\), \(i=1,2,...,k\) and where \(q_ 1<q_ 2<...<q_ k\). We shall always assume that G is a finite abelian group.
