    Es bedeute \(\mu ^\prime _s\) bzw. \(\mu _s\) das \(s\)-te Moment der \textit{Bernoulli}schen Verteilung \[ f(x)=\frac {n!}{x!(n-x)!}q^{n-x}\cdot p^x \] inbezug auf den Nullpunkt bzw. auf den Mittelwert. Verf. leitet nun folgende Rekursionsformel ab: \[ \begin{aligned} \mu _{s+1}&=p\cdot q\^^M\left [\frac nq\cdot \mu ^\prime _s-\frac {d\mu ^\prime _s}{dq}\right ],\\ \mu _{s+1}&=p\cdot q\cdot \left [n\cdot s\cdot \mu _{s-1}-\frac {d\mu _s}{dq}\right ]. \end{aligned} \] Der Beweis ergibt sich ohne weiteres durch Differentiation von \(\mu ^\prime _s\) bzw. \(\mu _s\) nach \(q\). Analoge Formeln gelten für die \textit{Poisson}sche Verteilung \(g(x)=\lambda ^x\frac {e^{-x}}{x!}\), nämlich: \[ \begin{aligned} \mu ^\prime _{s+1}&=\lambda \left (\mu ^\prime _s+\frac {d\mu ^\prime _s}{d\lambda }\right ),\\ \mu _{s+1}&=\lambda \left (s\cdot \mu _{s-1}+\frac {d\mu _s}{dx}\right ). \end{aligned} \]
