    This note contains short, elegant proofs that certain generalized capacities are reduced by suitable mappings. Let X, \(X'\) be locally compact Hausdorff spaces, let G, \(G'\) be non-negative, lower semicontinuous functions on \(X\times X\), \(X'\times X'\), respectively, and let \(\phi: X\to X'\) be a continuous map such that \(G'(\phi (x),\phi (y))\geq G(x,y)\) for all x,y\(\in X\). If, for a compact set \(E\subseteq X\), \[ e_ G(E)=\sup \{\mu (E)^ 2:\;\mu \in {\mathcal M}^+(E),\quad \int G\mu d\mu \leq 1\}, \] \[ c_ G(E)=\sup \{\mu (E):\;\mu \in {\mathcal M}^+(E),\quad G\mu \leq 1\text{ on } X\}, \] where \({\mathcal M}^+(E)\) is the class of non-negative Radon measures concentrated on E, and \(G\mu (x)=\int G(x,y)d\mu (y)\), then \(e_{G'}(\phi (E))\leq e_ G(E)\) and \(c_{G'}(\phi (E))\leq c_ G(E)\). The corresponding inequalities for inner and outer capacities are also established.
