A data parallel implementation of the algebraic multilevel iteration method and its computational and communication costs in comparison with its serial implementation are discussed. It is shown that a modified version of the method can be implemented efficiently on massively parallel distributed memory computer systems. The performance of the method on CM-2 and CM-200 computers is illustrated by several numerical experiments.
