\textit{W. Ding} et al. introduced anti-circulant tensors in [Numer. Linear Algebra Appl. 22, No. 5, 814--832 (2015; Zbl 1349.65070)], as an extension of anti-circulant matrices. These are special Hankel tensors. In this paper, the authors introduce a further extension by defining generalized anti-circulant tensors. They are still Hankel tensors, but there is now a circulant index \(r\) such that the entries of the generating vector of the Hankel tensor are circulant with module \(r\) with \(1\leq r\leq n\), where \(n\) is the dimension of the Hankel vector. For \(r=n\) we obtain the definition of an anti-circulant tensor. For the cases \(\mathrm{GCD}(m,r)=1\), \(\mathrm{GCD}(m,r)=2\), plus some others, the authors give necessary and sufficient conditions for the positive semi-definiteness of even-order generalized anti-circulant tensors and show that, in these cases, they are sum-of-squares tensors.
