Let \(U\) be the unit disk and let \(\Sigma_p\) be the set of all functions \(f(z)\) of the form \(f(z) = z^{-p} + \sum_{k=0}^\infty a_k= z^{k-p+1}\) which are analytic in \(U\) except for the pole at the origin. Let \(\Sigma_p^*(\beta)\) be the subclass of \(\Sigma_p\) consisting of functions meromorphically starlike of order \(\beta\) in \(U\). In this paper, the authors consider the classes \(\Sigma_p[n;A,B]^* = \{f \in \Sigma_p: -z(D^{n+p-1}f(z))'/D^{n+p-1}f(z) \prec p(1+Az)/(1+Bz), z \in U\}\) where \(-1 \leq B < A \leq 1\) and, using the Hadamard product, \(D^{n+p-1}f(z) = z^{-p}(1-z)^{-n-p} * f(z)\). These specialized generalizations of \(\Sigma_p^*(\beta)\) have been considered in a number of other papers. Here, the authors prove some results concerning the arguments of related combinations. For example they prove that if \(n\) is suitably large and \(f \in \Sigma_p\) satisfies \(|\arg(-z(D^{n+p}f(z))' /D^{n+p}g(z) -\gamma)|<\pi\delta/2\) for some \(g \in \Sigma_p[n;A,B]^*\) then \(|\arg(-z(D^{n+p-1}f(z))'/D^{n+p-1}g(z) -\gamma)|<\pi\alpha/2\) where \(\alpha\) is implicitly defined by a given equation. Some similar results are given involving functions defined by an integral operator.
