In this paper, the author studies the behavior and asymptotics of the solutions for a singularly perturbed equation with two delays \[ \varepsilon \dot x +x =ax(t-1)+bx(t-k_0-\varepsilon k_1) + f(x), \quad 0<\varepsilon\ll1,\ k_0\geq 1, \] where the solution \(x(t)\) is a scalar function, \(f\) is a sufficiently smooth function with \(f(0)=f'(0)=0\), \(a\) and \(b\) are constants, and \(k_1\) is positive if \(k_0=1\). As it is shown, the stability properties of this system depend substantially on the algebraic properties of \(k_0\). Namely, they differ in the cases of irrational and rational \(k_0\). Specifically, for example, if \(k_0\) is irrational, then for \(|a|+|b|<1\) and sufficiently small \(\varepsilon\), the zero equilibrium state is stable and all solutions from a small (independent of \(\varepsilon\)) neighborhood tend to zero as \(t\to\infty\); for \(|a|+|b|>1\), the trivial solution \(x=0\) is unstable.
