Let \(\Omega\) be an open and bounded subset of \({\mathbb{C}}^ n\) and denote \(P(\Omega)\) the bounded plurisubharmonic functions. If \(\phi\in P(\Omega)\) then \((dd^ c\phi)^ n=d d^ c\phi \Lambda...\Lambda d d^ c\phi\) is well defined as a positive measure and is called the Monge- Ampère mass of \(\phi\). In this paper the following theorem is proved: Theorem. Assume that \(\Omega\) is strictly pseudoconvex and that H(t,z) is a measurable, bounded and non-negative function on ]-\(\infty,\max h]\times \Omega\) where h is a continuous function on \(\partial \Omega\). If H(t,z) is continuous on ]-\(\infty,\max h]\) for every fixed \(z\in \Omega\) then the Dirichlet problem \[ \phi \in P(\Omega),\quad(d d^ c\phi)^ n=H(\phi,z)dV\quad on\quad \Omega,\quad \lim_{z\to \xi}\phi(z)=h(\xi)\quad on\quad \partial \Omega \] has a solution. (Here, dV denotes the Lebesgue measure.) This theorem is a generalization of a theorem of \textit{E. Bedford} and \textit{B. A. Taylor} [in Partial differential equations and geometry, Proc. Parks City Conf. 1977, Lect. Notes Pure Appl. Math. 48, 39-50 (1979; Zbl 0413.35017)] where \(H^{1/n}\) also is required to be convex and increasing in t.
