A remark on the homotopical dimension of some moduli spaces of stable Riemann surfaces (Q2478612)

Summary: Using a result of \textit{J. Harer} [Invent. Math. 84, 157--176 (1986; Zbl 0592.57009)], we prove certain upper bounds for the homotopical/cohomological dimension of the moduli spaces of Riemann surfaces of compact type, of Riemann surfaces with rational tails and of Riemann surfaces with at most \(k\) rational components. These bounds would follow from conjectures of \textit{E. Looijenga} [Invent. Math. 121, No. 2, 411--419 (1995; Zbl 0851.14017)] and \textit{M. Roth} and \textit{R.
