    The authors investigate second order systems of the form \(-L^ r(u)=f^ r(x,u)\) in \(\Omega \subset {\mathbb{R}}^ n\), \(r=1,...,m\) where \(u=(u^ 1,...,u^ m)\) and \[ L^ r(u)=\sum^{n}_{i,j=1}a^ r_{ij}(x)u_{x_ i}u_{x_ j}+\sum^{n}_{i=1}b^ r_ i(x)u_{x_ i}+c^ r(x)u \] with \(\sum a^ r_{ij}(x)\xi_ i\xi_ j\geq 0\). Such equations include elliptic, parabolic, and first order equations. The existence of ''weak'' solutions is proved under some appropriate assumptions on \(f^ r\).
