According to [\textit{W. Kühnel} and \textit{T. F. Banchoff}, Math. Intell. 5, No. 3, 11--22 (1983; Zbl 0534.51009)], there exists a nine-vertex triangulation, denoted as \({\mathbb C}{\mathrm P}^2_9\), of the complex projective plane \({\mathbb C}{\mathrm P}^2\). This triangulation of \({\mathbb C}{\mathrm P}^2\) is minimal with respect to the number of vertices. \par The present paper contains a new proof that the simplicial complex \({\mathbb C}{\mathrm P}^2_9\) is really homeomorphic to \({\mathbb C}{\mathrm P}^2\). The proof is based upon a trisection of \({\mathbb C}{\mathrm P}^2\) into three bidisks. Also, it is shown that the same reasoning works for the six-vertex triangulation \({\mathbb R}{\mathrm P}^2_6\) of the real projective plane \({\mathbb R}{\mathrm P}^2\).
