The authors consider a self map \(f:X\to X\) where \(X\) is a compact stratified space. We have \(L(f)\) the Lefschetz number of \(f\) and also a local contribution \(n(F)\) for each fixed point component \(F\) such that \(L(f)=\sum_ F n(F)\). The main result of this paper is to show that this local contribution is given in terms of a trace formula in the same fashion as the Lefschetz number. This is done under the hypotheses that each fixed point component \(F\) is weakly hyperbolic where `weakly hyperbolic' means that there exists a neighborhood \(W\subset X\) of \(F\), and an ``indicator map'' \(t: W\to R_{\geq 0}\times R_{\geq 0}\) such that \(t^{-1}(0,0)=F\), \(t_ 1 f(x)\geq t_ 1(x)\) and \(t_ 2(f(x))\leq t_ 2(x)\). In fact they develop the theory for correspondences which are pairs of maps \(c_ 1,c_ 2: C\to X\). In the introduction of the paper, the authors give few examples which are quite motivated.
