Construction and analysis of higher order finite difference schemes for the 1D wave equation (Q5928762)

This work is devoted to the analysis of high-order finite difference methods to solve the 1D linear wave equation. Various schemes are presented, the stability and dispersion properties are studied. The authors establish the stability and dispersion results for \(2m-2m\) schemes (of order \(2m\) in time and \(2m\) in space) conjuctered in the work of \textit{L. Anné, W. W. Symes} and \textit{Q. H. Tran} [Comput. Geosci. 1, 1-33 (1997; Zbl 0941.76057)] and compare them with \(2-2m\) schemes (of order \(2\) in time and \(2m\) in space).
