The main goal is to investigate vanishing viscosity limit when \(\nu\to0\) for the nonstationary Stokes equations \[ u_t -\nu\Delta u +\nabla p =f, \quad \text{div}(u) =0 \] in a smooth bounded spatial domain \(\Omega\subset\mathbb R^3\). The solution \(u\) is subject to initial and Dirichlet boundary conditions at the boundary \(\partial\Omega\). The author claims that the solution \((u,p)\) converges weakly for \(\nu\to0\) to a solution \((v,q)\) of the reduced problem \(v_t +\nabla q =f\), \(\text{div}(v) =0\). The convergence in suitable function space is proved by means of energy estimates. The author furthermore states the result on convergence in a stronger norm which takes into account the construction of suitable boundary layer terms compensating different boundary conditions for the original and reduced problem.
