This is a nice piece of analysis which proves that the metric on the moduli space of \(\mathbb{C} P^1\) lumps on a compact Riemann surface is geodesically incomplete. This result is of physical interest since it proves that (within the moduli space approximation) lumps can collapse in finite time.
