The authors prove minimal entropy rigidity in the case of closed manifolds locally (but not necessarily globally) isometric to products of negatively curved locally symmetric spaces of dimension at least 3, as well as in the more general setting of complete, finite volume manifolds. It is stated that in the compact case the proof of the result might overlap Besson-Curtois-Gallot's proof. The method introduced in [\textit{G. Besson, G. Curtois} and \textit{S. Gallot}, Geom. Funct. Anal. 5, No. 5, 731--799 (1995; Zbl 0851.53032) and Ergodic Theory Dyn. Syst. 16, No. 4, 623--649 (1996; Zbl 0887.58030)] is essentially applied with several twists.
