This paper concerns the optimal stability polynomials, which are polynomials whose stability region is as large as possible in a certain region. An important application of these polynomials is the construction of stabilized Runge-Kutta methods. Some properties of the roots of these polynomials are obtained. It is proved that their error constant is always positive. Moreover, for a given order, the error constant decreases as the degree increases.
