Let \(D\subset {\mathbb{C}}^ N\) be a strongly pseudoconvex domain in \({\mathbb{C}}^ N\) with \({\mathcal C}^ 2\) boundary. In theorem 1, there is constructed a holomorphic function \(f\in {\mathcal O}(D)\) having no limit along any smooth path which approaches the boundary nontangentially. In contrast to this statement, it is shown that if D is a bounded domain in \({\mathbb{C}}^ N\) with \(N\geq 2\), then for every holomorphic function \(f\in {\mathcal O}(D)\) there exist boundary points \(p\in bD\) so that f has a limit along certain arcs in \(D\cup \{p\}\) having p as one end point. This result, which is not true for \(N=1\), was proved independently by H. Alexander. For D as in theorem 1, it is constructed a holomorphic function \(F\in {\mathcal O}(D)\) with the property that for every nonconstant holomorphic map \(\phi\) from the unit disc in \({\mathbb{C}}\) into \({\mathbb{C}}^ N\), the holomorphic function \(f:=F\circ \phi\) on \(\phi^{-1}(D)\) continues across no point of \(b(\phi^{-1}(D)\cap \phi^{-1}(bD))\).
